I have just returned from two wonderful weeks in South Africa.
Invited to speak by Rory Dyer, I travelled to Durban for a conference hosted by Rory at Glenridge, the church which he had formerly led before recently moving to Pretoria. Believers gathered from far and wide; many of them were leaders who were joined by large crowds in the evening meetings. Our final evening meeting was attended by about 2,000 people and God's presence was wonderfully felt. It was great to meet up with a number of old friends but also to make many new friends in this vibrant church.
While there I also enjoyed speaking on the Sunday morning at Citizen, the Newfrontiers Church led by Drew Land. It's always fun to be with Drew and Megan and their family. They are such a great couple. We were delighted to see a response to the gospel as well as some healings at the end of Sunday morning meeting.
Following my time in Durban I flew down to Cape Town where again we enjoyed God's blessing upon a number of meetings. I was hosted by Church on Main led by Andrew Thomson, a bright church, meeting for the first time in a new warehouse and full of hundreds of young people expressing enthusiastic worship and also a great response to the preaching that I brought.
Finally it was a huge pleasure to meet up with my children and grandchildren while we were in Cape Town. Sunday morning at Jubilee
was very special. My son-in-law Steve van Rhyn had invited me to preach on healing which I gladly did. We then saw a very remarkable breakthrough with many healings, one of the most outstanding being the healing of my grandson Ben who had recently had a very serious accident crippling his right foot which led to his being permanently on crutches and in great pain and probably anticipating surgery.
Having seen several healings, he asked for prayer and was immediately and completely healed, running around the the huge church at great speed entirely free from pain with brother and sister cheering him on! This was cream on the cake of a very exciting and worthwhile visit which also included the joy of meeting my latest grandson Luka,( son of Tim & Esme) for the first time.
Wendy and I anticipate another visit early next year to follow up with new friends and old, grateful to God for decades of involvement in the church in Africa.
