‘God’s got an interesting way of doing things!’
This is a wonderful testimony from Tim Joy, who is a member of the Newfrontiers church in Heathfield, Sussex, UK. Also at the bottom there is a link so that you can actually listen to him sharing his testimony at King’s Church recently.
“It’s funny how this all started, but I should have really ‘kicked the bucket’! God’s got an interesting way of doing things.
“I was in the middle of doing a kitchen for somebody and that morning I was setting off and I got to Heathfield and stopped to pick something up. I had a lovely chat with one of the salesmen. I jumped back in my transit and was going off to see my customer, who I so enjoyed being with and told him all about the Lord too, and I was looking forward to seeing him again.
“As I jumped in my transit I felt something funny in my leg and thought I wonder what’s going on there. Then I felt a bit hot and cold and then couldn’t see anything out of my right eye. I felt I must get out of the transit. So I tried to find the lock on my transit but couldn’t because I couldn’t see. I managed to find the door and then I opened it and then fell out completely unconscious in about 30 seconds.
“I was lying on the ground, apparently, and the guy who had served me in the shop rushed out. He had seen me falling out of my transit and realised that I was unconscious. Funnily enough at that moment I was looking down at my body. I was watching it and I was perfectly at peace – the wonder of Jesus and knowing his presence with me – utter peace. I watched my body and this guy was pulling me over onto my side so that I could breathe and then the 999 were there and I just said, ‘Lord I’d just like to be with you if you don’t mind.’ He replied, ‘Of course you can,’ and then I left and I was with Jesus, just holding Jesus, knowing his love, his passion, his forgiveness, his mercy, his kindness, his wonderfulness that Jesus would even let me be in his presence. He is so, so wonderful.
“This is what Jesus thinks about you. You might think you have too much to hold you from Jesus that he needs to forgive. But God’s forgiven you. He loves you, He loves you, He loves you!
“Then I found myself looking down at my body somewhere in Eastbourne going in one of those big machines that scan your brain. They weren’t quite sure what was wrong. Then I said, ‘Lord I don’t really want to watch this, I’d rather be back with you.’ So I rushed back to be with Jesus again.
“Then they found out that what was wrong with me was too serious for them to handle and I was just about to ‘pop it’. So they rushed me off to Haywards Heath and did this huge thing on the side of my head – they opened me up with a big saw cut. I had burst something in my head, but frankly I couldn’t give a monkeys – I was with Jesus, it was marvellous.
“They managed to sort it all out and put me back together again. There are about 26 things holding it all together – I think there is a bit of concrete in there now, so it’s not bad. The funny thing was, about a day and a half later I knew what it was like to be back in the world and I thought, ‘God you are so marvellous!’
“Val had given me some music. I couldn’t really see and I felt quite weak and all I wanted to do was listen to this worship music. I said, ‘Lord I never want to leave this place again. You are so wonderful!’ God is so loving and forgiving. He is massive. I just wanted to kneel and lie at His feet. Jesus made every star. He made every single star and he knows every single one of them by name. He knows how much hair you have got on your head. He knows every single thing about every single person and God love you so much.
“There is so much I could tell you – what I have seen, what God in His grace has let me go through for Him. I can’t quite see out of one eye, which is a bit of a bore. Mind you I think I have lost about two stone in fat so it all helps! God is going to do something. I trust God. I’ve seen Him and just to stand and walk with Him and to see what He is planning for the future, how He is going to build the church. Millions, billions of people are going to meet Jesus when he comes back. A new heaven. A new earth.
“What a God we serve!”
