HOME AND ON THE MEND.
Following my last blog and many kind and loving enquiries I think another blog would be timely.
Following my earlier procedure my anticipated surgery was delayed for eight weeks, until 18 May, and now, following surgery, will be followed by four to six weeks convalescing. Quite an extended enforced sabbatical!
Many have enquired, so first let me say that my second hospital visit lasted only three days and the surgery (Transurethral Prostatectomy) was problem free, but nonetheless quite a sobering experience, bringing home to me my own mortality.
Wendy and I live very busy lives including much travel, many meetings and conferences and have tended to take our health for granted, so an emergency visit to hospital came as quite a shock.
My earlier blog mentioned the possibility of using this time to write a book. That never happened! (Though some have been confused by the publication of my evangelistic book “Life Tastes Better“ which had been completed some weeks before this development. By the way, please take advantage of it and use it).
I was surprised to discover that I simply had no energy to write. I sensed that God was encouraging me to rest and take in, rather than trying to give out. This has resulted in a lot of reading, prayer and reflection and in the next few weeks I will try to write further blogs about some things that I’ve read, prayed and pondered on.
Thank you once again for your prayers which have meant so much to me. The family of God is so wonderful and I deeply appreciate the love that has been expressed. Again I’m so sorry for the many meetings and conferences that have had to be cancelled. July should see me back up and preaching again.
